Council considers budget and tax rate, 4-day work weeks, appointments
During its regular Aug. 15, 2023 meeting, which lasted over Five Hours, the Forney City Council met to consider budget and tax rate, board appointments, 4-day work weeks.

-  Briefly: 
- the city approved proposing a 15% lower tax rate of 0.366533 (currently 0.434551), which combined with the "average" home value's increase of 14%, will provide a 3.7% decrease in city taxes.  The total taxable property has risen 17%.  The tax rate will be voted on during the Sep. 03 meeting.
 - Council approved moving forward with a 4-day work week for employees, by adding one hour to the workday.
 - Interviewed many volunteer applicants for board positions, and made appointments to many boards and commissions.
