Forney City Council Dec 16 starts moving on Fire Station #2

The Forney City Council, during its regular Dec. 16, 2014 meeting:

  • Approved, as consent items:
    • An amended site plan for Forney Fence Company, located at 206 E. U.S. Highway 80.
    • A proposed awning installation at 117 E. Main Street, within the Central Business District.
    • A proposed awning installation at 105 E. Main Street, within the Central Business District.
    • A preliminary plat to create a residential subdivision identified as The Cedars at Gateway II. The property is generally located east of F.M. 548 and south of Reeder Lane. (documents state this will be across Gateway Blvd. from the recently completed Cedars building, and will be 6 buildings with 313 units, along with a pool courtyar, volleyball court and fitness facility)
    • A site plan identified as The Cedars at Gateway II. The property is generally located east of F.M. 548 and south of Reeder Lane.
    • A residential subdivision final plat for Eagle Ridge, Phase 2B. The property is generally located west of F.M. 548 and south of Ridgecrest Road, within the Hamblen Estates Planned Development District.
  • Approved an Ordinance giving consent to the addition of certain land to the Kaufman County Fresh Water Supply District No. 6. Mr. Brooks said this would extend the boundaries to include this property by the developer of Vintage Meadows, a multi-use site of 208 acres S. of FHS which will include residential, a school site, and parks.
  • Approved a Development Agreement Between M/C Wells Development, LLC and the City of Forney, Texas. (same property)
  • Approved an Interlocal Agreement Between Kaufman County, Texas and the City of Forney, Texas for Road Maintenance. Mr. Metz said this would allow the city and the county to cooperate on smaller projects without having to get approval from the Commissioner Court and City Council repeatedly.
  • Approved the Standard Form of Agreement Between Owner & Design/Builder-Lump Sum and Standard Form of General Conditions Contract Between Owner & Design/Builder for Forney Fire Station #2. Chief Townsend said they had interviewed several firms and decided Speed Fab-crete was the one they wanted. Mr. Brooks requested the early completion provision be struck, as the city would not be able to staff the facility early - the motion was so modified.
  • Approved a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for design/build services to add an addition to the Parks Maintenance Building at Forney Community Park. Mr Curry said the budget contained funding for a maintenance bay, and this would authorize its completion in a manner similar to what Chief Townsend outlined.
