Forney City Council Jan. 20, 2015 approves zoning for Gateway Parks and more.

During its regular January 20, 2015 meeting (having skipped the first meeting of the month), the Forney City Council-

Approved, as consent item:

  • Acceptance of the public improvements for the Park Trails Subdivision, Phase 1.

Held public hearings -

  • Consider an Ordinance for a request for a rezoning from AG Agricultural District to PD – Planned Development District with a base zoning district of SFA – Single Family Attached District and approved uses from the SF-6 Single Family District.

        The Propery Owner's Rep Jerry Sylo presented a slide show and mentioned this is part of a grand vision, being part of the 2,000 acre project, and the amount of money that will be spent in phase one - over $2 million on Gateway Boulevard, + $1 million on the amenity center, and the $12 million on the bridge, and the owner's desire for this to not just be a subdivision.   • Approved an Ordinance amending the City of Forney Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance Section 48, entitled “Signage”. The amendment will clarify existing definitions and regulations and create new definitions and regulations.

        
  • Approved an Ordinance amending the City of Forney Comprehensive Plan, specifically to amend the future land use map designation from Commercial to Residential for 40.854 acres of property east of F.M. 740 and south of Bowie Street.

        
  • Approved an Ordinance for a request for an amendment to an existing Planned Development District for Single-Family Residential (SF-6) uses for 40.854 acres of property currently known as Stonebriar Estates, PD #1214. The proposed amendment includes renaming the Planned Development to Brooklyn Village, amending the development regulations, and amending the concept plan. The proposed base zoning district is SFA-Single-Family Attached Residential District. The property is generally located east of F.M. 740 and south of Bowie Street.

  • Approved a Resolution accepting a petition filed by certain landowners requesting annexation into the city of Forney, Texas; scheduling the date, time, and place for two (2) annexation public hearings on the proposed annexation of approximately 57.279 acres of land.

        
  • Approved an Ordinance amending the FY 2014-2015 budget to provide funding for the Irish Ridge sewer line design.

        
  • Approved the award of the bid to Metro Lawn Care Inc., in the amount of $161,582.90 and the add alternate in the amount of $28,125, for the construction of Ridgecrest Rd. Median Landscape Project Phase 2, and authorize the City Manager to sign the contract.

        
  • Approved a Request for Proposals for Removal and Installation of 1,000 Water Meters throughout the City of Forney.

        
  • Approved a resolution authorizing the purchase of approximately 2.84 acres of TxDOT surplus property, generally located at the southeast corner of FM 548 and US Highway 80.
  • Approved an Ordinance amending the FY 2014-2015 budget to provide funding for the purchase of surplus land from TxDOT.
  • Approved of the award of the bid with Classic Protective Coatings Inc., and Change Order No. 1 for construction services for the rehabilitation of the 400,000 gallon elevated storage tank in an amount not to exceed three hundred five thousand six hundred forty–five dollars ($305,645), and authorize the City Manager to sign the contract.
  • Approved an Assignment of Wastewater Agreement from Dassons Commercial, Ltd. to D. R. Horton – Texas, Ltd.
  • Approved an Agreement Regarding Wastewater Treatment Service Between the City of Forney, Texas and M/C Wells Development, LLC.
  • Approved Amendment No. 1 to Development Agreement Between M/C Wells Development, LLC and the City of Forney, Texas.

The council held a brief executive session, after which "there is no action to be taken as the result of executive session."
