Council to consider residential moratorium

Forney City Council will convene a special called meeting on a Monday, Aug. 30 at 6:30 pm, to hold a public hearing regarding a moratorium on new residential development.
A temporary moratorium is set to go in effect Sep. 02 for ten days. There will be another public hearing at the Planning and Zoning meeting Sep. 02, then a second reading of the proposed ordinance at City Council meeting Sep. 07. If approved, a moratorium could be imposed for up to 120 days, although it may be extended by later action. The council action "must be supported by specific findings demonstrating that the moratorium is necessary to prevent a shortage of specific public facilities".
