FISD Students' artwork for sale
Forney ISD's Gallery, located at The OC, is offering the community a unique opportunity to purchase original student artwork and high-quality prints, showcasing the district's emerging artistic talent while providing students with real-world experience in professional art sales.
The Gallery, open seven days a week on the first floor of The OC’s west side, features rotating exhibitions of student artwork selected by Forney ISD art teachers from all campuses.
Purchases can be made through Stay Golden Artisan Market, located directly across from The Gallery, during their operating hours: Thursday-Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Interested buyers can inquire about purchases at Stay Golden by providing the artist's name from the artwork label.
"The beauty of The Gallery is that it gives students the real world opportunity to sell their artwork in a professional setting and make money," Macka Jones, Director of Visual Arts at Forney ISD, said. "Students receive 80% of the profits from original artwork sales and 70% from high-quality prints, with the remainder covering processing fees through Stay Golden Artisan Market."
The current exhibition, Black History Student Art Show, runs through March 7. Following this, The Gallery will present the High School Visual Arts Scholastic Showcase starting March 8, featuring Forney ISD student work that qualified for the Region 10E Area Competition. The Gallery hosts approximately seven student shows annually, each carefully curated to showcase the district's finest artistic achievements.
