ARB approves remodels
During its regular Sep. 17, 2018 meeting, the Forney HOZ Architecture Review Board met and in summary:
- Held Public Hearings -
- Approved a request for a Certificate Of Appropriateness, in accordance with the Historic Overlay Zone District Regulations, for a new paint color on the main structure located at 402 Lowrance Avenue.
Mr. Dixon said the request to replace siding w/ hardy board was approved, a sample paint palette was provided.
- Approved request for a Certificate Of Appropriateness, in accordance with the Historic Overlay Zone District regulations, for renovations to the exterior elevations of the main structure located at 208 And 210 S. Bois D' Arc Street.
Mr. Dixon said Ms. Ballard wants to utilize the property as two units, as they originally were, so she wants to move doors and add windows.
Ms. Milton verified the buildings were being separated, as original. Mr. Cunningham had a question about the awnings. Ms Ballard said there will be two, she wants to be as historically original as possible. It will look similar to Joe Dan's structure, will have glass panels, 2 separate awnings for each building. They will be similar to each other, the doors will be more like original ones.
Mr. Ketteman spoke in support of the request, in April the EDC awarded grants: redevelopment at 208, facade at 210. Both will be retail use. Ms. Blair previously had antique store in there, and a B&B and restaurant (city cafe) before that. Enos is in favor, would like more businesses open downtown at night.
